The 5:2 Diet - Week Four

Week four brought the first week where I did my two 500 calorie days consecutively, which was because of various commitments I had throughout the week. The first day wasn't too bad, I think I'm used to my Monday fasting now, and I thought that the second day would be much easier because my body would be used to it. I didn't find it really hard, but I did feel quite hungry all day. I much prefer breaking up the days because it is the thought of knowing I can eat what I want the next day that gets me through.

The 5:2 Diet - Week Three

So at the end of last week's update you might remember me saying that after my not as successful second week, my positive attitude had been restored. Well, that's only slightly a lie. I found the fast days easier this week as I've got into a routine of what works for me, it's the non fast days which are my problem. I seem to think that 'eat what you like' really means I can eat what I want. Now, I was out for dinner two nights this week, but I also consumed a number of creme eggs and snacks that perhaps I didn't really need to eat.

The 5:2 Diet: Week Two

Me This Week

This week has been all about fighting the cravings. I went into week two thinking that it was going to be a doddle, as I had already survived week one. Wrong. If anything it has taken more willpower to get through the fast days and resist that afternoon treat (or morning, mid morning, early afternoon, evening, midnight...I think you get the idea). I can't explain why, but all I can put it down to is lack of enthusiasm. I went into week one thinking, 'I'm going to kick ass at this - 500 calories? No problem!' Whereas this week, it's been more like 'Is it time to go to bed yet so I can finally stop feeling hungry'. Not ideal.

The 5:2 Diet - Week One

The fast diet, 5:2, intermittent fasting - call it what you will, but this is the latest craze in the ongoing saga of weight loss. You may or may not have heard about the newest diet on the scene, but in a nutshell it consists of eating what you like for 5 days of the week (although there is no set calorie intake on these days, common sense should prevail), and then the other two days, consecutive or not, you limit your intake to 500 calories (600 for men) over a 24 hour period.
